--Written for a stubborn news professor. He was a tough on the writing work and demanding everybody hand in work on time. There was no exception to it. Everyone had to do their job and work accordingly. He taught the importance of being on time. He taught me the hard way. I will never forget that old man. He gave me a taste of what its like to be a real writer. Its not always easy and fun. Its sometimes about getting to the bottom of things and making sure things work out the way they should. He was one of my professors that taught me how to be a disciplined writer. Also, he taught me you could make a living with it if you you take it seriously.
Title: Should the Atomic Bomb Be Dropped On Hiroshima (1 page article)?
Was the decision to drop the Atomic Bomb on a Japanese city called Hiroshima the right decision? Some people believe bombing the city filled with people who have nothing to do with the war was a mistake. Others agree with the decision to drop the bomb on Hiroshima. Thinking it was necessary to prevent more casualties to United States’s military in World War 2. I personally believe the Atomic Bomb drop on Hiroshima was a huge mistake. The people working in the cities had nothing to do with the events in World War 2. They were human beings like you and me.
The Atomic Bomb’s nuclear force was too much for the citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to endure. It hit Hiroshima and killed thousands of innocent people. The people were regular, nonmilitary, and working people. About 90,000 people were killed in the explosion and about 40,000 people became injured. In addition, the bomb produced a lasting effect of radiation that caused about 250,000 casualties. After the bomb passed up to the sky, bodies of dead people were put in single lines, so they could later be buried into the ground. Building were destroyed. So many of them. They had people stuck in them as well. People who hid for shelter. Due to the fact that many people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were dying rapidly, people of Japan were starting to lose hope and about to admit defeat. Furthermore, Japan didn't want to lose more people to this highly destructive and poisonous bomb. I would like to add my own take based on the information contained in this paragraph. America has no right to kill people that were not involved in the war. I am highly against the decision to drop the bomb (Kross, 45).
To add to the bad experiences of Hiroshima’s citizens, the Atomic Bomb caused citizens experience an infection. After the bomb hit Hiroshima and killed many people, some became infected with radioactive poisoning that caused mutations. The mutations would make people grow differently. It also caused pregnant women to have abnormal children. To add more to the sadness, these mutations are still affecting people in modern times. At the time, people were going to the hospitals in Hiroshima to seek treatment for their injuries that were directly obtained from the bomb. Many patients at the hospital began to develop a new infection called petechiae. Petechiae, is a disease that cause a person to bleed excessively in certain areas that are in the body. Areas of infection showed a pattern of dots in physical form also. Patients infected with petechiae started to lose pieces of hair on their heads. In addition, patients begin to experience some unknown form of cancer in a very short amount of time. Radioactivity caused the patients to die at the hospital. A small number of patients had minor injuries that were beginning to recover, but these same patients died months later. A blood analysis reported these same patients to have a new low white blood cell count that was never there before. The injuries that these poor souls endured was all caused by the Atomic Bomb (Malloy, 515).
Something highly destructive happened after the Atomic Bomb was used. Something that should have been avoided for war. Countries started to believe World War 3 will soon occur with nuclear weapons. For example, in 1945 China discovered the Atomic Bomb aftermath on Hiroshima in a local newspaper. A journalist in the Chinese newspaper argued that China needed to develop Atomic Bombs to compete with other countries in future wars. The journalist also argued that Atomic Bombs could win any future war. Rifles were useless at this point. So, China went on a mission to develop their own nuclear bomb. The decision to drop the bomb caused other countries like China to develop more Atomic Bombs. Therefore, any war that might be fought in the future could cause another Hiroshima incident. An incident that might involve killing innocent civilians to have another victory. In my opinion, the Atomic Bomb started a problem where people living in big cities are targeted by nuclear bombs. I strongly believe the Atomic Bomb should have never have been dropped on Hiroshima (Harrison, 101).
More words of my own, the decision to drop the Atomic Bomb has created a terrible strategy for other countries to use. The new way to win a war is to create a Bomb that can destroy cities filled with people. After the cities are destroyed, the country’s government will probably fall because people run the government. Atomic Bombs are very destructive and cause huge amounts of damage to city areas. If too many Atomic Bombs are used, it could cause many government systems to fall rapidly. Once the government systems fall, the orders and control will go right out the window. The decision to drop the Atomic Bomb has now caused other countries to develop this deadly weapon with the intention to win the war by sacrificing innocent people. Why do innocent people need to be sacrificed?
I also think there should of been an alternative to dropping the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima. I understand, that World War 2 was looking bad for the United States and that United States was losing many American troops to the Japanese. However, I still think they shouldn't get the civilians living in Hiroshima involved. Thousands of innocent people died in a war for what. To fuel United States’s pride or set an example to other countries to fear the United States? In any event, people should not be sacrificed so another war is won by the United States. Wars happen all the time and should not be won with civilians being sacrificed. Only people who volunteer in war should be sacrificed. I hope future countries will learn a different method to do battle wars, or innocent people will continue to be sacrificed. People that didn't deserve it.
On the other opposing point of view, the casualty rates of American troops in World War 2 continued to rise and a decision had to be made. The United States decided to drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima. A debate was occurring in U.S. on whether to drop the bomb or to not drop the bomb. One U.S. politician believed that if U.S. did not drop the Atomic Bomb, thousands of American troops would continue to perish. United States also thought Japan would come back to the islands and try to take them by force. United States has lost many troops in this war and was not sure if the war was going to be won by them. America has won many battles in the past and did not want to lose the battle with Japan in World War 2. For this reason, a decision was made by the U.S. to drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima (Kross, 40).
The U.S. politician that made the decision to drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima was President Harry S. Truman. He believed America should drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima to win the battle in World War 2. The president made a judgment call based on events occurring in World War 2. America’s ally Britain was struggling with the German army for six years and could not aid the U.S. in Japan. The Russians fighting in World War 2 was neutral on the Japanese invasion. Some of America’s other allies in World War 2 were under Germany’s control. To make matters worse, many American soldiers were dying in Okinawa City of Japan. The number of casualties were estimated to be 50,800. America has also lost about 30,000 soldiers during the invasion of D-Day which was for attacking German military. America was losing many troops to the Japanese in World War 2 and the war situation was getting desperate. America did not want to lose the war because many troops were dying and their power structure was on the line. Plus, no one was there to help them.
In conclusion, the decision to drop the Atomic Bomb was a huge mistake. About 90,000 innocent civilians living in Hiroshima were killed in the blast. These civilians included doctors, children, men and women who had nothing to do with World War 2. United States’s politics believed that the decision to drop the Bomb was the right decision but, I highly disagree because people who were not involved in the war were being killed in very large numbers. I understand that United States was losing many soldiers to the Japanese and not getting support from allies, but it still does not give them a right to drop the bomb on Hiroshima. United States was afraid to lose the war to the Japanese and they was afraid of their victory streaks would come to an end. United States wanted to remain in power and become one of the world’s greatest countries. A defeat from Japan would make the United States no longer one of the greatest countries in the world. Fear of losing power drove United States to drop the Atomic Bomb. Fear of losing power, should not decide who is fit to die and who is not fit to die. I believed America made the wrong decision when they decided to drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima. At all possible risks, all of the Atomic Bombs on earth need to be destroyed in order to create a society where man controls the world instead of something else or something much worker than man.
